Fethard Wedding followed by Hotel Minella Clonmel Tipperary

Fethard Wedding and Hotel Minella Clonmel Tipperary.

Wow! What a rush of wedding videos  I’ve had the last two weeks. There were three  in and around the Fethard, Drangan and Mullinahone area alone. Last week, Fethard town was my stop at the old Augustinian Church (Abbey) in Fethard, for Liam & Kays wedding. This old Church is steeped in local history and, a local couple whose wedding I filmed last year  in Fethard, filled me in on the history. I will share a little with  you …

Wedding Video Fethard

For a while, the Abbey was used as a parish church by the clergy of the reformed religion. The friars, disguised as labourers and peddlers, continued to minister in the district and there is evidence to show that through the following century. In spite of the spasmodic persecution of Catholics, there were friars residing in or near Fethard. You can read more about the interesting history  HERE

Now, getting back to Kay & Liam’s wedding, They are a lovely couple and were both fantastic to work with on their wedding day. Both are from the local area of Lisronagh,  just out the road from Fethard. Kay booked me after seeing  her sister’s wedding video, which I filmed last year. In her own words; “Wow! What a wedding DVD!” She told me they have watched it over and over and loved the slow moving shots I got with my new steady cam unit. This allows me to move around the photograph session in the hotel grounds unnoticed. She also said it looked like watching a feature film. The Abbey was looking splendid with flowers by Jane’s Flower Cabin. Jane is a true professional and is also one of my many Wedding suppliers in Tipperary  on Brides In Munster. She transformed the Abbey with lovely scented fresh flowers.

I left Kay’s house after the bridal preparations, which were really funny and made for fantastic video footage of the girls. This  is a great way to start a wedding video. When I arrived at the church, Liam and the guys were getting their photos taken by another professional John Kelly, John is a photographer I really enjoy working with, as he is  fast and you never see him in any of the shots in the video.  A short while later, Kay arrived in her old-fashioned car – an old Rolls Royce. After the service, we headed to the beautiful Comeragh Mountains for some photographs and video footage, with the blue sky and the beautiful countryside. After a while,  I travelled to  Hotel Minella  to capture their arrival, as well as the piper who plays at the hotel  for most weddings.

Speeches were before the meal and were to the point. These days, I see 75% of wedding speeches are before the meal. This way, hotel guests sit at 5.30, which I think is only right. The bride and groom then have lots of time to catch up with their guests and their music starts on time, which is important to get value from the bands. I filmed some very funny  guest interviews/messages before the band started. Now Kay and Liam can enjoy what people had to say about the day when they collect their wedding video after their honeymoon. So another fabulous local  wedding video day has come to an end. It was one of the most enjoyable weddings I have worked at. The DVD – well I will have Kay and Liam post a little about their thoughts on that one ….  ~ Joe
